PAST Act - U.S. Senator Joseph D. Tydings Memorial Prevent All Soring Tactics Act of 2019 - H.R. 693
The PAST Act would end the use of “soring” of horses, ban the use of large stacked shoes and ankle chains (devices associated with soring), strengthen penalties, and make it illegal to sore a horse for the purpose of showing or selling it. The SAFE Act would prohibit the sale or transport of equines or equine parts in interstate or foreign commerce for purposes of human consumption.
Providing Responsible Emergency Plans for Animals at Risk of Emerging Disasters Act - H.R. 1042
The PREPARED Act would require that research facilities, dealers, exhibitors, intermediate handlers, carriers, or Federal research facilities develop, document, and follow a contingency plan to provide for the humane handling, treatment, transportation, housing, and care of its animals in the event of an emergency or disaster. Puppy Protection Act - H.R. 2442
The Puppy Protection Act will amend the Animal Welfare Act to require the Department of Agriculture to expand standards that govern the humane handling, care, treatment, and transportation of animals to include new requirements for commercial dog dealers. Read bill here.
