Rescue Journeys & Ways to Help!
Summer has come to a close with so many rescues and adoptions. We can't thank everyone enough for your support.

As many rescue animals have moved forward with their new lives, new homes and newfound love; others are still continuing their journey toward happily-ever-after.

Follow their stories below and find out how you can help each rescue get closer to continued health, happiness and a forever home.
HUCK BEFORE
HUCK NOW
Huck's progress has been remarkable! He's gained so much healthy weight, his brown and grey fur is filling in nicely, he has got his appetite back and no longer has ear infections. His skin infection is also beat! He always wants to play and enjoys hanging and napping with our doggies in the yard.
STORY:
Huck was almost euthanized before the Foundation stepped in, seeing a severely neglected 13-year-old Labrador who was still very much alert, mobile and nothing short of sweet. Upon initial examining, doctors at Animal Wellness Centers discovered Huck has advanced ear and skin infections - extremely inflamed skin from untreated mange mites and chronic arthritis. Watch the video below.

HOW TO HELP:
  • Foster! The Foundation will fund all medical care and food; you supply the home, the love and the supervision. Huck loves to play tug o' war and fetch, is a big fan of other dogs and puppies. Email us today to foster Huck long-term.

STORY:
Livi was given up because her owners had too many cats. She has been with us since spring and was competing with all the cute kittens this summer due to what's known as "kitten season".

Livi truly is a gem. From her shiny black coat to her soft golden eyes, Livi is a beauty. She has a gentle, quiet personality. She absolutely loves being brushed and pet. She starts off shy, but so desperately wants to take part in getting affection. Livi is only 2 years old. She likes the company of kittens and friendly cats.

HOW TO HELP:
STORY:
Blondie was recently surrendered by her previous owners with matted fur and a large hot spot on her left hip.

Blondie is a sweet soul: quiet, calm and loving. She's about 7 years old. She is good with other dogs and wants frequent company more than anything.

HOW TO HELP:
STORY:
Dunkin is a West LA Shelter rescue. He was dumped by his previous owners. With the help of Animal Wellness Centers medical staff, Dunkin's health is being cared for and monitored. He is roughly 4 years old.

Dunkin is a lap boy. He bonds quickly to the person caring for him. He is best as the only dog in a calm home with lots of companionship from his person.

HOW TO HELP:

Our Adoption Process

Our adoption process was designed to help ensure that we select the best homes for our animals and includes a questionnaire, meeting and home visit. We take special care to match the right home with the right pet, ensuring a lifetime of love for both the pet and the adopter.

Volunteer with Rescues

We cannot stress enough what a huge difference our volunteers make toward the well being of our rescues. From playtime and walks to fostering and adoption events, our dogs and cats are enriched by the time spent with each volunteer. Thank you to our amazingly compassionate volunteers and friends for the work you do!

Animal Wellness Foundation.org is helping animals through veterinary care, rescue and adoptions. You can help by volunteering and by becoming a sustaining donor.

The Animal Wellness Foundation (Foundation) is a Los Angeles-based private charitable organization with a mission of helping animals by making veterinary care available to everyone with a pet, regardless of economic ability. We organize rescue efforts and medical services for dogs and cats in need and help homeless pets find a loving caregiver. We are advocates for getting veterinarians to the front lines of the animal welfare movement; promoting responsible pet ownership; and vaccinating animals against infectious diseases such as distemper. We also support policies that prevent animal cruelty and that alleviate suffering. We believe helping animals helps us all.
